Watch me burn: At the stake
Watch me burn - At the stake - [Silvertooth Records]

2008-06-25

Every once in awhile i find an album that, although im not a huge fan of that bands genre, it compels me to listen to it over and over again. This is a prime example of one of those albums. WATCH ME BURN have created that riptide of sound with this 2008 release entitled fittingly, AT THE STAKE. This band is not of a genre that is easily named, but there are definate grindcore, sludge, thrash, psychedelic and more than a few more that bring it all together into something that raises the bar of extreme metal period. The female vocalist (SAWA) displays a voice that would make a demonic banshee slash satanic siren run for its life in utter and complete terror!! with Rusty Reeves on drums, Kevin Fetus on guitars and Russ Herpich on bass this completes the circle of sickness that makes up WATCH ME BURN. Hailing from the city of angels(LOS ANGELES,CALIFORNIA.U.S.A) they have a massive fanbase in L.A and the rest of the country. They have toured the west coast extensivly with some of grincores largest acts and sell out every show they play both on the road and at home. The following is a list of recorded efforts since 2001.

2001-3 song sampler demo that made its way into the hands of thousands of people as it was freely given to fans and radio.

Like i stated in the beginning of this review, sometimes an album comes at me that im not big on the genre, but it surpasses that racism and blows my fu**ing head off completely.I have to confess that i'm going to have to re-listen to alot of bands that i gave no chance to because of the name grindcore. WATCH ME BURN is the number one reason for this awakening, so obviously this band is very worth listening to for any fans and new fans that have never given the genre a chance. The only complaint i have of the album isn't the 15 ass kicking songs, its that there should be more!! This bands album deserves an honest 9 out of 10 and is a perfect addition to any metal collection hands down.I am looking forward to their next effort and iam certainly a converted grind fan at this point!!!!
