Rage N Revenge: Apocalyptic Future
Rage N Revenge - Apocalyptic Future - [Self-released]

2008-03-18

This Spanish band's debut album is a fairly competent combination of power metal and less-heavy hard rock, consisting of 12 mid-tempo tracks that combine melodic guitar riffs and dynamic drumming with rather high-pitched vocals.

As for the vocals, they are rather well done, with a definite oldschool vibe, a strong vibrato that may turn some people off but I thought was all right. They combine well with the solid guitar work.
Problems? There are a few. First – the rather simplistic, and pretty Christian inclined lyrics; the sound of the albums is sub-par, with the drums taking the brunt of that – sounding like a drum machine for the duration, and there's very little in variation musically.

It's still a self-released effort, and by rather a young band, and as such it must be judged, so it's still pretty good from that point of view. Still – it's still not label material, these guys need to sharpen up the sound, add some originally to the material- the ability seems to be there, it's just not tapped yet.
