Roadkill: Dark Side
Roadkill - Dark Side

2008-01-03

This Dutch band has been around for a while, starting as a hard rock cover band in 1993, and continuing with their own material through the years. Band members came and left, and this final line-up came about after the loss of vocalist Marco Hendriks.

This EP is the band's third release, containing re-recordings from their previous full-length album "Merlin" and some new tracks. the first thing you'll notice is that the band, and the whole album for that matter, sound like it's 1985- pure old school heavy metal.
Vocalist Marc Mac Blade combines heaviness and melody very well, and the rest of the band does a very good job to keep the album catchy, interesting and enjoyable.
I think it would be better if the band would have chosen to wait and release a full length album instead of a 5 track EP containing 2 new songs, but these guys definitely show potential and maturity, and do a great job retaining the sound and writing styles of other and much more famous bands, that we've all grown to know and admire.

If you're a fan of the genre, listen to this band, you will not be disappointed!
