Swiss deathsters
Darkrise deal in what can be described as brutal death metal with some technical aspirations, their second album is 11 songs of fast-paced, aggressive death metal with all the known characteristics of the genre.
Not too much to write home about here, I will say their brand of brutal death is pretty professionally put together, with some strong riffs, low-end growled vocals, and strong technical drumming, but I can't say they bring anything too new or too exciting to the mix.
True, a song such as Anal Obstruction is a strong piece of brutal death metal, but since all the songs on the album sound quite similar to it, and none of them is overly ground-breaking or technically staggering, it's difficult to get overly excited by it.
I will say they have some nice riffs, no denying that and again – the drumming is as brutal and aggressive as it gets in the genre, but whenever they try their hand at guitar leads it sounds lacking, and there are no real discernible songs here, something which some brutal death bands do manage to pull off.
Fine for
Cannibal Corpse fanatics out there, but not much to look at for others.
