This is this Belgian heavy metal band's third release, and though released in 2007, for all intent and purpose, it sounds as if recorded in 1981. This is a NWOBHM album, by a Belgian band, years after that genre died down.
Now, that might have worked, had this album been any good, but sadly - It isn’t.
Let me start with the good things: they have a pretty good vocalist, he has a solid melodic voice, which may not be anything extraordinary, but he can still carry a tune; some of the songs are nice, with some Iron Maiden and Saxon touches that might have been good had the following two things been any better:
The sound – it's goddamn horrible, it doesn’t really sound like an original 1980's sound, more like a bunch of kids messing around with Pro-tools, recording in their garage. Release an Iron Maiden album with this sound and it would suck.
And secondly – the lead guitar isn’t too good, with this type of music the leads need to be fantastic, impressive and melodic, and here they're allright, but nothing more.
All of that adds up to an oldschool metal album that could've worked, but it doesn’t. Too bad…the band seems to have some talent, but they sure need to put some effort to make this work next time.
