Crestfallen: Lose My Mind
Crestfallen - Lose My Mind - [Self-released]

2007-02-25

This 4 song EP shows, if anything else, that these young guys from Cyprus have their hearts in the right place, it's a heavy concoction of doom and melodic death that's quite well played, nicely produced, the only thing that's lacking is some clearer direction.

Opener "I Lose My Mind" combines some solid guitar work with progy rhythms and keyboards, it sounds quite good for such a young band, but the problem is with the unclear direction, a bit of doom, some death, some prog, these guys need to sort out their music a bit. "Obliterate" suffers from the same problem, again, they are certainly good musicians, but it seems they like too many metal genres to decide which one do they want to create. Still, the song has enough nice riffs and good melody lines to be all right.

These guys certainly need some maturing and better direction, but the raw material is there, good playing ability, good ideas, they just need to put them together better.
