Jetfuel: New Form Ultra Function
Jetfuel - New Form Ultra Function - [Self-released]

2007-02-19

It's really hard for me to describe Jetfuel's album, it has the aggression of thrash metal, some American hard rock vibe, some hardcore attitude, but any way you want to put it, this is a fucking great album.

When "Whores" started out I was a bit unsure on the direction this was going, good sound, that's a fine start, but things get rolling with the mid-section thrash riff, the strong, raw vocals sit in just right. "Denominator" continues with that line, heavy, aggressive, the varied use of vocals works wonders for this song.

What do these guys sound like? It's hard to explain, it's a bit like Gwar doing thrash, with some traditional heavy metal on top, just listen to the great melodic lead in "Denominator" and you get the picture, the riff sounds like a spin on Pantera's "Walk", but whatever you want to compare them to, this album just blew my mind again and again. Things get heavier with "Hades County Line", almost industrial drum line, fast as fuck, and some fantastic thrashy riffs - this kicks ass!.

The weird, almost psychedelic feel continues with "Six", I mean, the vocals are just insane, this guy has some issues, but the way he deals with them in this album make this thing into one unique monster. Heavy industrial rhythms hit with "Secret Formula", with the vocals coming off as a demented Devin Townsend clone, the guitar riff should win some prizes.

Weak points? Not many - The cover. Guys, this green shit doesn’t fly, and no one will buy the album because of it. Apart from that? No weak points, just a great album.
