"Genuine" should be a keyword in today's industrial music scene and it's not. It seems that using phrases such as " Power Electronics" or "Power Noise" in order to describe almost every amateurish industrial act that shit loads distortion and noise over some fast beats , only weakens the vitality of industrial music , needless to say its' originality or it's power.
Some acts , stand out though. Fennesz , Synapscape , Magwheels , Somatic Responses and my latest discovery , Voltage Regulator are good examples for industrial acts that still keeping it raw and real .
"Genuine" is definitely a word that could relate or describe Voltage Regulator music. It is twisted and bizzare as the album cover suggests (two revolting characters hold against each other something that looks like a carrot ? a radish ? maybe both ) . Washes of ambient soundscapes are being lurked by strange industrial noises and gritty glitches. Spastic samples come in and out and suddenly a spooky bass line backs up an even scarier , yet gentle womans' voice that sounds like she's been possessed or locked up in a dark basement for ages, captivating.
While most people will find this album annoying , i think this release is just brilliant. There's something truly hypnotic in these experimental sounds made by Voltage Regulator , and if you get your kicks out of obscure and ill ambient , you're in for a treat .
