This 37 minute long album starts with a clear post-hardcore/post rock intro, which gradually swells (as these sort of songs usually do) until suddenly turning emo; those abominated whiny vocals on this opener, “Burnt Orange Report”, would probably make any hardcore and post-hardcore fan to chuck away the album without listening to the rest of the songs and claim it was a rip-off to whoever sold it while replacing it with a decent album.
Emocore fans (or Emo-boys/Emo-girls if you like) however, would adore it for its occasional hardcore screams and claims of innovation within the style (i.e Fashioncore).
Lost in Rhone was, up until not so long ago, a Belgian quartet which played some sort of mixture between two style which have grown more popular lately – Emocore and Post-hardcore; their drummer left recently, quite justfully in this reviewer’s opinion, for “artistic reasons”.
Although I don’t find the match between the two styles very fitting this is not a bad album; it flows quite well actually (almost as if the songs are connected, and for that you have to give these guys some credit).
Songs like “Le Temps Du Loup”, “Ghosts” and “Walk with Daedalus” are where they managed to combine the elements of both genres well enough to make the album light and enjoyable.
Basically, this album would fit those of you with some affection to Emocore or an open mind for something not quite ordinary.
