Manifest: Half Past Violence
Manifest - Half Past Violence - [Edgerunner Music]

2006-01-29

After releasing several Ep's including 2003's "The art of war", Manifest finally release a debut album with the kind help of Onkel Blodronk (The Appartus) among others.
Manifest define their music as "Supreme noise thrash" (a definition I find a bit odd to follow by, sounds a bit too much of a made up one) - I refuse to define their music this way for it would castrate it.

"Slay the dove", the opener, is kind of like upgraded thrash via Stain Leknes's growled vocals upon the innovative guitar riffs.
"Manufactured lie" and "Third eye ricochet" show great sophistication, feel like technical death by both guitarwork and blasting drums.
"Dead and spiral" and "Grind whore" offer a slight change of power, being a bit more close to the hardcore style without letting it take over.
Another side of Manifest can be found in "Friendshit" which has somewhat of a Noisecore approach production-wise.

It's hard to choose a highlight for this album since all tracks are equally breathtaking- I'll go with "King of sin"; starting with a tribal-beat, developing into somewhat of an anthem and managing to have that dense heaviness which makes Manifest so unique.
