Runamok: Make My Day
Runamok - Make My Day - [Screeech!!! rec.]

2005-12-10

I found it quite difficult to describe Runamok's music, they combine thrash metal, Rock n' Roll, some heavy metal, all-in-all, it's an energetic and melodic mix of fast metal, with strong melodic vocals and souped-up guitars.

The guys certainly know how to use their instruments, though they don’t use them for any extravagant soloing, there are more good rock n' roll vibe riffs and nice rhythm guitars.

Fabian Schwatz's vocals are not prefect, he misses a tone or two sometimes, but he has a raw, refreshing presentation that reminded me a lot of some classic German thrash bands, and that's always a good thing, there's also something that sounds energetic and fun in the general vibe of the album.

The album opens with Just A Game, a typical enough track for the band, and it adds speed and power after the second track, Bounty Hunter, which flows on nicely.

Different Names has the rock n' thrash feel nailed shut, great riffs, fast rhythms, it ticks, it doesn’t sound exactly like anything else, and it ticks.

This album has more of the old-school in it, for certain, and I, as an old-school fan, found this very enjoyable.
