Alaska Fire: Falling Fire
Alaska Fire - Falling Fire

2004-06-16

These young metallers have put on quite a strong offering, benefiting from a strong sound, actually recorded in vocalist's Alex Fire's studio, these guys manage to pull of an elaborate amalgam of power metal, Goth elements, and even some growled vocals,
Opening track Out Of The Dark benefits from Fire's intense vocal delivery, much heavier then the usual, ho-hum power metal vocals, it's evident that the band possess well-developed technical prowess, the keyboardist is immediately recognizable as a force to be reckoned with.
Release me is more of a power metal track per-se, while tracks like Absolution enter some ingredients more recognizable from other genres,
Fire's vocals are varied in the extreme, going from a power metal like higher tone, to low, quite Goth oriented delivery, usually keeping a slightly coarse edge to his voice, which works well.
Two or three tracks are not as good as the rest, and I'd suggest keeping the album shorter, and thus tighter, but all in all, it's a great album, with plenty of good metal riffs, and professional sounding, I'll definitely keep these guys in mind…
