Jailbird: Inside Nonsense
Jailbird - Inside Nonsense - [Geska Records]

2003-12-18

Look out Wumpscut, Watch your back D.O.D!! The French connection is out to get you.
The French duo - Jailbird had spread their Industrial wings and soared in search of some genuine hardcore prey. It is a brave attempt to break the German control over the industrial market.
I’m not sure how would the standard Industrial fan react to the lines and songs in French but at least they got the balls to try.
“Inside nonsense” is a complex album with lots experimental stuff and tons of potential.
The electronics are working hard here alongside heavy distortion guitars and the result is much like heavier advanced YOUNG GODS.
Frank Ackermann rebel yells and voice throwing are working quite well for the industrial theme of this album.
The production sometimes lacks a certain depth that could have added a lot but at face value most of the songs are very highly produced. The guitar sound and riff at “white lines 23” is absolutely brilliant as the one in “Majestic Sacrifice”. Another interesting track is “last pray”, almost pure Dark-Wave with surprising vocals that actually sound like real gothic singing.
The lyrics are half gothic half industrial and several of the songs got interesting samples like the powerful sex voices on “Majestic Sacrifice”.
This duo got excellent drive and the guts to just play the music without worrying about trying to sound sophisticated or too professional.
Can’t wait to hear the next album.
