Dialis: Precatio
Dialis - Precatio

2010-01-11

Emerging from Italy, the technical duo Dialis are aiming for the sad and dark side of the soul. It sounds like Nick cave's dark side of the brain has inspired them, and it's not the only thing mentioned about the old rocker.

The band was formed towards the end of the nineties, in the city of Campnia, and used the creative side of their mind as their greatest. Though their early music was influenced by bands like "Joy Division" or "Dead Can Dance", the band has never limited itself to a specific genre. To clarify, I will give a few examples: the first song, "Precatio", sounds like Nike Cave's ballad duet with Kylie Minogue. "Sweet Eclipse" reminds me of a Radiohead song, and "Sworn Compassion" definitely sounds like Pink Floyd.

All kinds of musical instruments are taking part in this album, and they all play in a magical harmony. Storming electric guitars along side the flute, gives the music a European gypsy touch. But most of all there are two main elements that make this album a stronghold: the piano (played by GUISEPPE LORENZO), which most of the song are built on, gives this album its main atmosphere. Secondly, the voice of FRANK BOTTONI, is very deep voice and, like I have mentioned before, is very similar to Nick Cave. Sometimes, however I got the feeling that he was trying to much to emphasis his vocalic ability, like in the song "FEEDING OF TEARS FOR E.DICKENS". Generally, his voice is the right one for this band, this album, and the atmosphere in it.

This album is dedicated to all of you that like to explore the depths of your dark side. Songs about the lost soul, human fears and suicidal tendencies can be found in abundance. If you look at their MySpace page, or just in the album booklet, you can easily get into the spirit of this album. I highly recommend this album on cold and dark winter nights!
