The Prowlers: Devil's Bridge
The Prowlers - Devil's Bridge - [Locomotive Music]

2007-02-25

This is this Italian band's second full length release, they originality started out as an Iron Maiden cover band, and though the Maiden influences are still there, especially in the vocals and the harmony leads, this is more traditional European power metal with some strong prog elements as well.

The album starts out with the excellent "Alone In The Dark", some solid guitar playing elevates the track, the sound is alright, not brilliant, but quite fitting, what adds strength to this are the very Dickinson-like vocals of Fabio Minchillo, and the strong harmony leads and riffs by the two guitarists. "YTT" starts out with an interesting keyboard line and proceeds to work its way around what is a nice melodic and quite progressive number. One of my favorite cuts here is "Fuse", which comes off as Italian power metal, but with some strong classic heavy metal touches.

A few extra points go for the great album cover, making the album look pleasing to the eye, and not just to the ear. These guys may evolve even further away from their cover band roots in the future but as it is, they still make quite a potent outfit now as well.
