Towersound: Towersound
Towersound - Towersound - [Indie release (self release)]

2006-12-12

The best way to describe French power metal band Towersound's debut is…raw. The rawest elements being the sound, truly one under produced album, smudgy and unclear, another raw element is the vocals, though capable at times, they mostly come off as flat and quite one dimensional, with very little range to speak off.

The songs themselves are another facet, a bit over simplistic, they again come off as raw. It sounds pretty bleak as of now, but the band has some redeeming features, first – they can play, through the muddled sound you can hear some decent guitar riffs, and even impressive guitar leads, the rhythm section isn’t bad too, but as I said, its almost impossible to hear what they're doing through the god damned horrible sound.

The album seems to be a concept one, with some effort being put into the lyrics, so its quite a shame the sound and somewhat flat vocals cause an obstacle in its path, I would say the band has potential, but they need to change recording spaces, producers, and work some more on catchy, simple compositions, with some more vocal variety.
