Quest Of Aidance: Fallen Man Collection
Quest Of Aidance - Fallen Man Collection - [Pulverised Records]

2006-12-10

Brutal death metal can take up quite a few facets, but it's usually best at its most unflinching, when it doesn’t overcomplicate things, it's just a barrage of hard riffs, fast drums, and guttural death growls.

Sweden's Quest Of Aidance's EP is just that, it's well played but not overly technical, it hits you in the face like a shotgun, just 7 songs that last about 3 minutes each, it’s a short act of slaughter that that doesn’t take any prisoners, and that's the way brutal death metal should sound. It may be a re-issue of the band's 2005 demo, but it doesn’t sound like a demo.

Some added bonuses in here, the guys can play, as fitting a band whose members' pedigree includes stints in such acts as Incapacity, Scar Symmetry and Carnal Forge, also nice are the movie samples and background noises that rear their ugly head in between tracks. But the fact remains the only thing this band needs is the brutality that's inherited in their music, and they have plenty of that.
