Mother Misery: For The Crows
Mother Misery - For The Crows - [Daredevil Records]

2006-10-19

I don’t know what is it about Sweden, but these guys make the best sounding American hard-rock outside of the US, and Mother Misery is another fine example, they really reminded me of Norway's Glucifer with their stoned, almost Punk hard-rock, rock with an attitude.

Opener "My soul" is a good example of the stuff they do, Monster Magnet riffs with strong vocals with a ton of grit, the guitars are a bit thin for my taste, but it still sounds pretty good. "Take A Good Look" is more rock oriented, with a grunge chorus, not bad at all.

The track I liked best is "I Will Never Learn", a heavy rocker with some of the best vocals on the album, this is what makes the band what it is, a combination of sleaze and rawness with a good amount of talent.

This may have only 5 songs, but they are all pretty good. It's quite a pleasant surprise, and I'm pretty sure a full, well produced release by the band is well worth waiting for.
