Stonecreep: Tonight We Ride
Stonecreep - Tonight We Ride - [Unsigned]

2006-08-08

Portland's Stonecreep have created quite a nice five song demo here, mostly reminiscent of melodic death metal bands such as In Flames, with some neo-thrash and metalcore, with some heavy doses of Children of Bodom evident in the melodic lead work and screamed vocals.

Opening title track has some nice riffs thrown in, band members have a good technical ability and all instruments are well played, it has a bit of a rock vibe to some of the riffs and it works well, I guess I cant complain too much about the sound, but the drum sound has got to change, the double bass is in front of the mix while the snare is left back, with drumming as good as the band has, it somewhat weakens its effect.

Second track – “Disembodied Voices” – is my favorite here, it has a much more steady rhythm and some fine In Flames flourishes, the guitar playing takes center stage and there's some really fine lead work here.

“Insurrection” is one of the heavier cuts, again, good riffs and some imaginative song structures, the Children Of Bodom touches in the vocals work well most of the time.

The band still needs to use better hooks in several songs, but they have almost everything else pegged, with a proper budget and a label to support them they can probably go far.
