Overloaded: Hail The Kingdom
Overloaded - Hail The Kingdom - [Self Release]

2006-06-25

These guys could've sounded at home in the 80's, but it's the strength of their music and overall talent that makes this album shine in a heap of 80's flavored hard rock albums that are constantly being released lately.

The album, self released, is the epitome of a band doing what it can with limited resources, and still making one mature, well crafted and well played album, they sound like many well known 80's hard rock bands, but they still manage to come off as fresh and interesting. The album starts out with “Beaver Fever”, a dirty love song if there ever was one, the production is on-the-spot, thick guitars with a raw, dynamic sounding drum sound, courtesy of metal veteran Tom Morris. Two of the band's strengths are immediately apparent – the lead guitar by Eric Kluiber, and the strong vocals by Chris Gillen, who's voice has a definite air of quality, bringing to mind Jackyl's Jesse James Dupree with some Robert Plant on top.

“War Of The Worlds” is a heavier track, with some imaginative rhythm riffs and catchy melody lines, but the best track here is the anthem-like “Feelin' Overloaded”, the band just pulls off what is a great hard rock song, as American sounding as they come, this isn’t overly complicated or technical, its just simple fun.

“King Of The Landfill” has some different flavors, more complex arrangements, more rhythm changes, it seems the band has quite a diverse ability with its song writing, and the album shows off most of it.

These guys should be signed, fast, this much talent and energy should be put to good use.
