Blackmore's Night Christmas album

2006-11-16
On this highly anticipated first Christmas album by Blackmore's Night, titled "Winter Carols", Candice Night and Ritchie Blackmore interpret nine mediaeval carols in their own inimitable style. Apart from these traditional songs such as "Lord Of The Dance", "Good King Wenceslas" or "We Three Kings" the album contains a Night/Blackmore original – "Christmas Eve" – which has already delighted countless fans at their live shows. Further highlights are an exceptional Blackmore instrumental, "Winter (Basse Dance)", as well as a wonderful cover version of the Rednex classic "Wish You Were Here".

The renaissance rock band was founded in the mid 1990's by Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow) and his partner, the singer Candice Night. With their debut album, "Shadow Of The Moon" (1997), Blackmore's Night charted world-wide and stayed in the German charts for 17 weeks. The band has repeated this feat with subsequent releases, most recently with the album 'The Village Lanterne" which entered the German album charts at no. 6 in early 2006.
